Finding alternate sources of energy is on the forefront of many scientists’ minds as the urine-powered robots attest to. Although …still a work in progress, the idea of such creations feeding off readily available liquid is an exciting development, if not necessarily an appetizing one in the least. Yet fuel isn’t any more appealing than urine, so after overcoming the initial disgust associated with such urine-powered robots, the concept is quite promising. Created by Peter Walters along with fellow researchers at the University of the West of England, the urine-powered robots digest the liquid through the use of a microbial fuel cell. In time, such robots could potentially go into public washrooms in order to charge up.
